Eummer League heats up

With the summer season now at its warmest, the Summer Scrabble League has risen to a high temperature of competitive heat.

In Section A, the competition has come to a boil with the six best performing players across two groups in Phase 1 now set to battle it out for the top three places in Phase 2. Reigning National Champion Charles Micallef (shown in picture) has had the best run, wiinning all ten games played so far and, more importantly, starting the final phase of the league with a headstart of four wins registered against Nicky Vella Laurenti and Christine Strawbridge, who also made the cut. Though sailing through the initial phase not without a stutter, five time National Champion David Delicata will start the final phase on a par with Micallef, whom he will face over three games that will be crucial for the top spot.

The water is simmering in Section B and the Supplement where Kevin Pirotta and Josephine Mayo respectively are leading the pack, with the fast-improving Bryan Priest and former National Champion Sammy Mangion both following closely behind the two provisional leaders.

With the Summer League now entering its last month, the heat is now certainly on.
