rousson without a blemish in exhibition tourney
There could have been no better way for Scrabble to showcase its prime position in Malta's games galaxy than for its foremost practitioner to emerge from a tournament unbeaten.
This was the fairytale outcome of the 2-Day Tournament that took place in the context of the inaugural edition of the Mediterranean Gaming Week, where the eleven time and reigning National Champion Theresa Brousson (right in photo), unfazed and seemingly spurred by the panoply of games, gamers and observers in her midst, got the better of her opponents twelve times in as many rounds. This amazing run has propelled Brousson back into the exclusive realm of a +1900 national player rating.
By her own admission, Brousson 'had to dig deep' to eke out a victory on more than one occasion. This happened among others in her games against eventual runner-up Josephine Mayo and third placed Dave Parkin. The latter continued his quick apprenticeship as a wordsmith with another big climb up the tall ratings hill.
