harles Micallef wins German Nationals

Charles Micallef (shown in photo) staged a remarkable comeback on the second and last day of the German English Scrabble Nationals 2016, held in Berlin, to edge past higher-rated opponents and win the competition.

Micallef confirmed the form that has seen him leading the standings of the topmost division of the Malta National Scrabble Championship 2016, which at the moment sees him vying neck and neck with five-time National Champion David Delicata for the final honour.

The former chess ace will also be keen to ride high on his German exploit when he takes part on local soil in the 9th Malta International Scrabble Open (MISO).
